"How does AI DETECTION work?" (deepdive + CHEAT)

More and more people are asking this, want a solution or just want to know if it's reliable.

The answer: IT DOESN'T WORK. I tried it, here's WHY, and how to FIX it:

1. None of the AI written content is "watermarked" or imprinted with traceable data.

2. False positives/negatives: in its current state it's a gamble, not a certainty. Do you rely on slot machines?

3. If you want to get technical, most of these systems analyze perplexity and burstiness to differentiate between human-written and AI-generated text.

Perplexity is like a score that shows how surprised a computer is when it tries to guess the next word in a sentence.

Low perplexity: If the score is low, it means the writing is predictable, like a computer-generated text that follows simple patterns.

High perplexity: If the score is high, it means the writing is more interesting and varied, like something a person would write.

Burstiness is about how different the lengths of sentences are in a piece of writing.

High burstiness: Human writers often mix short and long sentences, making the text lively and fun to read.

Low burstiness: Computer-generated writing usually has similar sentence lengths, making it sound boring.

Putting it all together + CHEAT:

AI detection tools use both perplexity and burstiness to tell if writing is human-made or computer-made.

If the writing has low perplexity and low burstiness, it might be from an AI.

By understanding these two ideas, we can help keep our writing authentic and interesting, with a custom prompt that addresses these issues.
